Job Description:

Ian, Evan and Alexander Corporation (IEA) is seeking a Human Resources/Payroll Specialist who is passionate about supporting our mission, policies and procedures. This position will support both the Accounting and Human Resources teams focusing on semi-monthly payroll processing, human capital and benefits administration.

Payroll Specialist

  • Payroll processing experience
  • Handling data entry/processing of multi-frequency, multi-state payroll
  • Identifying payroll discrepancies
  • Preparing and maintaining payroll records and associated reports
  • Responding to employees' and managers' payroll-related questions and inquiries, partnering with Benefits, HRIS and HR team members to ensure the accurate and timely processing of transactions, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and wage garnishments and other administrative duties and specials projects as assigned by Controller
  • Accurate preparation and submission of semi-monthly payroll using current timecard and accounting system - includes various contracts with different earn code requirements within in the continental US and outside the US
  • New hire data entry into accounting system
  • Consistent review of timecards and timecard system maintenance
  • Prepare payroll reports to include paid time off and holiday balances
  • Communicate with third party payroll provider
  • Manage paid time off and holiday tracking systems
  • Work independently to resolve issue
  • Administer timekeeping system
  • Occasional filing and special projects including archiving prior year’s accounting records
  • Perform payroll/benefits-related reconciliations and complete reports as required.

Human Resources Support Functions

  • Provides clerical and administrative support by maintaining employee personnel files and records
  • Administer and maintain 401(k) plan and associated compliance actions
  • Assist in the administration of the employee benefits, communications, and tracking
  • Support employee on-boarding functions by collecting and tracking document completion
  • Assists the Human Resources Manager with various assigned tasks
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelors’ Degree from a four-year college or university, or similar field, or the equivalent years of related professional experience.
  • 2 years of related experience and or training in benefits and human resources.
  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher), advanced Excel.
  • Administering employee benefits, including health & welfare and 401(k).
  • Experience using HRIS systems and payroll systems
  • A minimum of six months’ experience in processing payroll utilizing payroll processing systems. Experience with Paylocity is a plus
  • Knowledge of federal and state wage laws
  • Effective problem solving and trouble shooting skills with ERP systems
  • Familiarization with accounting and finance methods in accordance with GAAP and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
